Our philosophy is to “teach the fisherman to fish” rather than give handouts.
Our Scholars learn basic body movement skills initially, which enables them freer movements and develops their spatial orientation within the world.
They learn colour recognition, numbers, and constructive, competitive games which encourages healthy competitive development.
We aim to install new ways of thinking in young minds.
By empowering our Scholars with basic body awareness knowledge, they are encouraged to further develop their athletic skills.
They are empowered to shout out their mathematic and colour recognition skills in an eagerness to be competitive – which is integral in developing success in environments which can lack support and inspiration.
We aim to empower our scholars to believe that through hard work, anything is possible.
Our Scholars are inspired to achieve more through learning that is fun. The trickle down effect is that they then go home and inspire their siblings and friends.
We have created leaders, with a focus to continue ding so, within this programme who with a little recognition, show us their best attributes and capabilities.
They are then encouraged to learn better leadership roles and are given responsibilities to encourage them to do so.
Change in the self, Change in ability, Change in belief, Change in attitude, Change in opportunities, are all attributes that we strive to develop in our Scholars – as well as in our Coaches.
For us, change is not something to be scared of – but something to embrace for self-development.
Integrity is a very important aspect of our development.
It is one of our core principles at Board level, Scholar and Coach development level and goes hand in hand with the development of Change and Growth.
Honesty with the self and Honesty with others are very important values to develop.
With the growth of self within both our Scholars and our Coaches – the opportunity to be exposed to further opportunities grows and exposes both to greater development in all spheres.
Opportunities in life, come in all shapes and random moments and with personal development, scholars and coaches can learn to recognise these and either accept or let them pass by – and learn to accept the consequence of each of these actions.
The Scholars that we work with, have mostly never been exposed to anything except hardships in their daily lives.
By allowing Children, Scholars and Coaches to develop knowledge about themselves, giving them opportunities to take / let pass by, and teaching them the consequence of either of these decisions – develops trust within themselves, with their Coaches and within the opportunities that we offer.
Leaders do not always have to stand on the top of the mountain.
We encourage all of our Scholars and Coaches to develop skills of leadership by simply giving opportunity to gain positive self-awareness and grow their skills.
Being the team leader in a game, being the leader of the pack-up for the day, being the leader in front of a game – are all subtle ways that we develop each Scholar and Coaches’ abilities and responsibilities.
“Do not put off for tomorrow what can be done today.”
This is a strong GSFT belief that has encouraged us to set goals that we work hard to achieve.
We aim to instil this thought in our Scholars and Coaches.
It is probably the most exceptional experience of this programme to see Scholars and Coaches self-develop into fine human beings with good qualities of self-belief, self-trust and self growth.
